This is one to avoid:

Provident

Loans. Borrow £500. Pay back total of £825. Typical APR: 177.0%.

Incredible, isn't it. And yet there are people out there, who need £500 for 'shopping', who will fall for this.

  • NEVER EVER EVER BORROW FROM THE PROVVY!!!!!!

Join a local credit union, save for a few months, and then borrow similar amounts as the the Provvy, at rates which are legally capped at around 12%!

They offer an excellent, in underused alternative to people who are excluded from mainstream finance, plus the profits stay in the local community, and are not siphoned off to allow Chief Execs to play golf all day long.
I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore
