Its not a pension plan , its a whole life assurance plan?.........

They are not even whole of life assurances either. More like whole of life insurance (due to restrictions on not paying out in early years when an assurance would). Payout is not assured with these.

They are pretty awful plans though. Lots buying them dont realise the limitations and dont realise they can get a whole of life assurance cheaper or with better sum assured for same premium level. The way they were advertised in the past was criticised for play on sales fears when indeed that was all the advert was doing itself. The FSA increased the compliance requirements for these which is why you now see more warnings.
