HSBC lifetime tracker - thanks for pointing it out!

For those of you that are probably sick of seeing my username come up on this forum for the last 5 or so weeks (you know who u r) i apologise, but i'd just like to say a big thanks to those of you that pointed out the HSBC lifetime tracker deal out to me.

Without this forum, and the clued up folk, i wouldn't have known what to go for.

I didn't realise the worth of this deal, in that you can change at anytime - there is no tie in, and the rate at 5.79 is great for me, a 90% (just scraped it) LTV person - especially in this economic crises climate.

I have now been accepted (89.5% LTV) and have had all the legal stuff through today, I signed it all tonight, and am posting it away first thing tomorrow.

Its madness, but just one month ago, i was looking at paying 6.69% or 6.58% (thank god Nationwide didnt accept me as they downvalued me) - and if i hadn't have joined this forum, i would probably have still been paying a lot more than the HSBC deal at 5.79%

So THANKYOU!!!!

My poor mortgage broker, he's really upset that he couldnt help me - haha - oh well, no fee for him!

  • I hope it works out for you. There could well be a fall in base rate next week which would help.

I got the HSBC tracker mortgage last month.

We got the deal that was 0.99% above the BoE base rate with no fees at all.

My normal mortgage broker could not beat this deal at all so I went direct to HSBC.

I love the fact that I can make as many over payment as I want which is super as I really want to get the mortgage down as quickly as possible.

This looks like the way to go for me come new Year as the base rate is hopefully set to tumble!!

    Cheers!!

  • Well done on making your decision.

IMO a tracker is the best place to be - there should be lots of base rate cuts coming up! Then you can always switch to a fixed rate later on when the base rates have tumbled and there are some cheaper deals out there.

    All the best.
