Changing banks - timeframe

Hi all

Now I know I've been through this myself but I can't remember that far back!

My husband is in process of setting up DMP. One of his credit cards is with his main bank so we have just applied on-line to open up a NatWest account. Any ideas on how long it takes to get all the gumph through and all set up. He's paid weekly so changeovers are difficult!!

i timed mine so i instructed them to change direct debits after the last lot were paid, i.e. after the 2nd of september and instructed my work to change it for the next salary, and it all appears to have gone thru smoothly but that was with a monthly salary... i'm not sure how it would work for a weekly wage....
