Hello,
Living out in the country, I 've managed to pick lots of Blackberrys. I have about a pound but can get lots more. What do you think I should do with them? I've made apple & blackberry crumble and pie but has anyone got any good other ideas and recipes?
I'm a new wife who is newly trying to be wifely - if that makes sense!!!
Also - anyone got any ideas about what to do with elderberries?

if you place the blackberries in single lines on a baking tray they should freeze well so you can then put them in a tub or bag and use them later in the year without them sticking together.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

Blackberry Liquer
4 pounds / 2kg Blackberries
3 pounds / 1 ½ kg Granulated sugar
Bottle of Gin, Vodka or Rum
Place the blackberries and sugar into a basin in a warm place until the juice is drawn out from the blackberries (about 6 - 8 hours)
Strain the juice through a jelly bag or fine sieve and discard the berries
Measure the juice and add equal amounts of spirit of choice to juice
Mix together well, pour into sterilised bottles and seal
Store in a cool dark place for at least 6- 8 weeks
If you make it now it should be lovely for Christmas for you or even a gift for someone xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Mmm yummy, we've a batch of blackberry vodka for christmas.
Freeze 'em. Blackberries are lovely with porridge. You can make jam and chutney if you favour preserving over freezing.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
