Is it possible to downgrade from Sky HD to Sky+

I'm about to take out a new subscription to Sky - never had it before.
Am cancelling my existing £21pm Broadband, and moving that to sky too.
I 'could' just take out plain Sky or Sky+, basic package at £17 per month PLUS £5 for Sky broadband = £22 per month for TV + broadband (compared to £21 for just broadband before).
BUT.....since there appears to be a great offer on SKY+HD at the moment, I'm thinking of going mad and taking out the FULL Sky package. They are currently offering SKY+HD boxes for just £75 and FREE installation. But I can then get £70 cashback from a cashback site, so the up-front cost is a measly £5 for an installed box.
If I then take ALL the packages (but not multiroom) I believe it would cost me £57 per month (plus £5 for my broadband).
Am only planning to do this for the first month, and then reduce my subscription to only the packages I want - which will probably be just a few of the basic packages.
BUT...MY QUESTION....
Once I have a Sky+HD box, is it possible for me to drop the HD subscription (£10 per month) and just subscribe to the basic (non-HD packages)? Or will I be stuck with having to pay £10 per month for HD?
Cheers,
Don
