HP late payment charges
In 2002 i got a car on HP through Online Finance which is part of GMAC.
I got into arrears and and ended up constantly playing catch up. In 2006 I managed to get a lump sum together and payoff the balance of the HP with all interest, which was a year early and stopped them repossesing the car, and subsequently thought all finance was settled.
Since then they have contacted me through solicitors trying to claim another £1700 roughly for late payment fees and returned direct debit fees. And on my credit file this amount is showing as outstanding on the loan.
Is there anyway of contesting these and getting the amount removed from my credit file???

That sound to me like an unfair charge or fee whatever you like to call it. You could make a complaint and ask them to justify these charges and if they do not then take your complaint to the Ombudsman or write to the OFT etc.In 2002 i got a car on HP through Online Finance which is part of GMAC.
