Boots Meal Deal Challenge

Just a bit of fun really. I like many MSErs probably partake of the odd Boots Meal Deal, and try and maximise the savings by getting the most expensive items possible in the deal.
So the challenge is to find what combination of Food, Drink & Snack bought for the £3.30 meal deal gives the biggest saving.
To start the challenge off here's my latest findings, BUT still haven't broken the half price barrier.
Shapers Large Sushi - £3.40
Phildelphia Splendips - £1.29
Innocent Vit C drink - £1.89
Total saving £3.28

£3.30? it's £2.99 in Sheffield
Problem is I have a late lunch so often the things I would really like (Chicken Tikka wrap) have already gone
Todays purchase:
£2.70 - Cajun Chicken Wrap
£0.95 - Diet Coke & Lime
£0.79 - Brazil Nuts
£4.44 - total
£1.45 - saving
but... all bought on points on the proceeds of buying several of the buy 99 pay for 1 gymball misprice so technically a 100% savingEGG are a bunch of complete bankers!0 -
Not had a meal deal for ages but I always used to get a 3 chicken sarnie, which I think was £2.70, a mango smoothie that was £1.40 and a slice of carrot cake which I think was £1.40 again so a saving of £2.20 which isn't bad but nowhere near as much as you!0

My saving was about the £1.54 mark too, but the advantage machine was spewing out 100 points coupons when you buy a meal deal, so over the last few days I've got 4 meal deals and only paid for 3. I love Boots!!July Grocery Challenge Budget £160

When your buying them dont forget to use the Advantage Card machine first and get extra points.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I got most of my meal deals when the machine was giving out 100 points for every meal deal. Now all I seem to get are 25 point ones.
Probably explains why I haven't bought one in a while!0 -
I can't play the MEAL DEAL Game @ Boots anymore unless I either A Get a bus and risk falling off a pavement as I don't know how to get to Boots from the Retail Park bus stance safely or B Pay almost £10 in taxis to get to Retail Park Boots safely and back. Not really worth the latter if 9 times out of 10 all I want is a £2.99 cheapy lunch.
Annoyingly I was in a Boots in Glasgow Sauchiehall Street yesterday and they still had them, grumble grumble.my advantage_card is like gold dush0 -
When they did 2 bottles of Coke for £1.30 or whatever it was, I can remember the combination of the two offers meant you got an extra bottle of Coke for something stupid like 45p!
I think it was:
Sandwich - about £2.40
Dessert - about 99p
Coke - about 85p
Meal Deal = £2.99, so you already save £1.25. But when they scan the second coke, it takes 40p off the total. £3.84-40p = 3.44 - you have an extra bottle of coke for 45p! If you think about it, they're actually paying YOU 80p to take the Coke! £2.99 Meal Deal + 85p Coke - 40p = £3.44. Minus the cost of each Meal Deal item seperately = -80p?! :T My brain hurts!0 -
I think they are doing the two cokes for £1.30 again in mine... I shall try that one the next time I go!EGG are a bunch of complete bankers!0

I saved more than I spent on my meal deal today. Now that's moneysaving!
Shapers Large Sushi £3.40
Innocent Smoothiss £1.79
LoCarb Fruit Jelly £1.00
Total £2.99
Saving £3.20
And I got a 100point coupon from the machine.
I am enjoying lunch today.0
