New job offer- when do i say I've a pree-booked holiday?

Hello,

Just got a job offer (verbally), should start in 3 weeks-ish. But I've a holiday already booked in december. When do I tell that to my new employers? Thanks!

I thought you were meant to tell them in your interview?
Failing that, just tell them as soon as you start and apologize for not mentioning it.
  • If they never asked you at the interview then they shouldn't expect you to have told them there and then.

Tell them asap though and get them to put it on a holiday chart so there are no misunderstandings about it.

When I had an interview last year and was offered the job that was when I mentioned the holiday I had booked and said I would accept the job subject to being allowed to take the leave.

They had no problem with that at all. Most employers won't mind, people do tend to book holidays in advance, I would think it rare for a company not to honour prebooked holiday. If they did I wouldn't work for them!

It is entirely the fault of your new employers. They should have mentioned this subject at interview and it was not up to you to tell them. Like the previous poster has said, just tell them a.s.a.p. I am sure that they can do nothing about it!
