Tesco 3.5lt SC356 Slow Cooker £9.96 instore & online

I know the sainsburys one was recently posted at similar price but the Tesco's one capacity is smaller and does not take quite as much room up. This may suit some people's needs better. 3.3 lt is still a reasobale size for small family. Site states: "Currently available in a limited number of locations". If ordering, don't forget to buy a sim card for £2.47 for free delivery.

does anyone know how these compare with electric ovens for energy use?

i.e. does it cost more too cook with a slow cooker at a lower temp for 6 hours than an electric oven at a higher temp for 1 hour?
  • From what I have read, they seem to use about the 'equivalent of using a light bulb' and are more energy efficient than a conventional cooker.
I did find these reasonable useful sites. Maybe someone knows of a better electrical appliances consumption comparison site? That would be really useful to us all.

The site now says that the capacity is 3.5l and there had been a mistake.....
  • You are right --- but what's 200 ml between friends? ;)

Do you think 3.5l (or 3.3l) size bowl is big enough for 3 people ?

T'other half's a fitness fanatic and eats loads so has a big portion...so to speak:p
Plus me and DD who eat normally lol.

We've got one if these, it does us fine for a family of four. We've had a sausage casserole from it, 8 sossies, an onion, couple of carrots and a load of mushrooms. Add a baked spud each and you've enough, maybe cook some extra fresh veg if needed? Main tip is don't put too much water in as very little evaporates.

I've got a 3.5 litre SC and it makes a huge amount. There are just the 2 of us and it makes enough for both of us with room to spare and often enough to freeze.
