Trouble with joint loan with ex partner
Hi,
My girlfriend split with her partner over a year ago, they had a house and a joint loan together. When they split my girlfriend froze their joint account because he was continuing to take money from it. They sold the house and both agreed that money from the sale would be used to pay off the loan, they used the same solicitor and he transferred money from the house sale into the joint bank account to pay off the loan. The problem my girlfriend has is that because the account is frozen the bank can't do anything with that money and because she is the only one they can contact they are taking the loan payments from her personal account. The solicitor has asked her ex to authorise the unfreezing of the account but to no avail. If anyone any suggestions i would be very grateful as this has her very worried.
Thanks

Surely if the account was frozen then they shouldn't have been able to transfer money into it? How much money is there in the account, will there be any left over once the loan has been repaid? The thought of getting some cash might make the ex agree to unfreeze it!
