I found an advert for Deya www.deya.co.uk who are the people behind delivering Yellow Pages and the Phonebook to your door. They need some people to deliver around 600 copies of the Yellow Pages in about 3 weeks time.

Yeah, Did this a few years back.
Alot of walking, Good in nice weather.
You tell them when you are going to work.
Some companies don't pay you until they have audited the work.Thomson 757 Man0 -

Negative
Very hard work. You need to collect all the books on one day. The weight in my car burst a tyre (good start). The living room was full of books 6ft tall. By the time I paid for Petrol I was on less than the minimum wage.
Positive
It was just before Xmas. I ended up doing about 10 rounds - there was lots of work. Nice extra cash for Chrimbo.
StebizAsk me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
you will need a large car / minivan, to take all the copies in one go!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

I did it three years in a row hard work dont go takeing on the town center it can be a night mare i did about 7 rounds each time but i had the use of a big van to collect them and a big garage to store them but if you got some help its not to bad i ended up carrying three or four bundels and to save on petrol just parked the car up and walked most of the time they used to expect you to hand to the people and not leave on door step that didnt help and they do check up on you i know i did the street i lived in they knocked about five in my street.0

Thanks I am not too sure my parents will be pleased to live in a Yellow Pages 'house' for a week!
I may sacrifice parking outside for a week or two as can use the garage space for books. The garage is warm and dry."The reason we're successful, darling? My overall charisma, of course." -- Freddie Mercury

The company 'PDC' who I worked for, used a transport yard and you didn't have to take them all in the same day.
It depends what you are delivering, Thomson Local was the easiest and the lightest, I used a 'large pram' to park up and walk round the streets moving the car street by street.
The work actually goes quickly if you are doing door to door.
I could deliver about 85 - 100 an hour depending on houses/weather.
The hardest bit is getting motivated to do the work, You have to stay on top of your workload as you have to plan & deliver the books.
You don't want 600 left on a friday to deliver!!
I used to plan the routes first, And plan the quickest way round trying not to double back or cross over roads/streets too much all to save time.
If you got a big residential are (new houses) you could soon get them done.
But the big houses with big driveways were a nuisance and time wasting.
If you do decide to do the work the best times to go and deliver are 9.30 am after the rush hour or before start at 8.am.
People don't like you delivering before 8.am and after 6 pm, As they are (more) suspicious at those times.
If I was delivering in a bad area (estate), I would always make sure it was in the daytime to reduce the risk of trouble etc.
I stuck with 9.30 am - 2 pm or whenever I finished.
You do find in some areas that if you are there for more than 2 days, The residents give you the impression (body language) that they have seen enough of you and want you to move on.
I remember one old lad - nice as pie the first day, Then the second day - are you still here that's all he said and walked on!!:o
There were very few people who would have a chat with you (laugh) and offer you a drink etc.
I guess that's the way of society today.
If you don't try it then you will never know.
I would do it again definately, As I often thought 'well it's better than been in a factory or an office - there was no one on my back telling me when to have a break.
Best Of Luck.;)Thomson 757 Man0
