    Hi

The biggest shocker is my spend whilst at work. We use something called a klix key that we can deposit money onto, this can then be used to buy lunch at work, either in the restraunts or in vending machines. I have easily been spending between £10-15 a week on the klix key. Remedied that though by taking sandwiches and walking around the site with some other thrifty (poor - not paid enough) friends.

Well, it is not part of my spending diary because I changed my car before I started to do this - I changed to a Smart car. Road tax is next to nothing, insurance is down, fuel cut from £35/week to £16/week, overall a great saving and fun too - the downside is servicing is up, but overall the reduced costs make up for the higher servicing costs. BTW, the car before was a Rover

:naughty: Thrifty/frugal doesn't = poor! :p LOL (only kidding ;) ) but, I can't relate to the "not paid enough!".

You said: " ... around the site" ... do you mean a building site? That can be quite a cold, brisk environment!!!
 Now, if you have gone to the stage of taking sarnies *and* sharing with friends ... is it possible to cut the costs a wee bit more and take turns with those same friends when it comes to flasks of coffee/tea/soups??? That can save a few bob; although, I do appreciate it isn't always practical ;)

Also, instead of sandwiches, don't forget if you have a widemouthed flask, you can take any leftover casseroles/stews/meaty, chunky soups too! Flasks will also keep hot dog sausages nice and hot - so you could take a roll or two, fill them with some hot sausages (maybe even chopped onions from the flask?) and still have something hot, substantial and tasty. :):):)
:T Great savings on transport!!! :T

    Hi

The 'site' does not mean building site in this case, far from it. I work for a large pharmaceuticals that is sited in a cracking bit of Cheshire on about 90 acres of land. So, there are paths all over and lots of people do take the opportunity to walk as there is lots of green space within the site. There is even a pub

There is a group of 4 of us who could share the costs, soup enough for everyone is a good idea. That would be a good move as the wintery weather is coming in and soup sounds really good, especially after a walk.

  • This is a good idea as although I'm very careful with things money still seems to evaporate. i hate xmas shopping when I seem to end up with an empty purse, lots of plastic bags and a load of nothing that i've bought. Not doing it this year. Need some tips on moneysaving wrapping paper!!

I've been keeping a spending diary for 8 months now and its been a real eye opener! How much can 1 woman spend on magazines. I no longer buy magazines now and read online newspapers instead.

A totally mad idea... for the expensive stuff at Christmas, get the whole family to make the 25th Jan a second Christmas Day, then get your sale price expensive electricals etc then for half the price. Still have a proper Christmas on the 25th December, Christmas Dinner, games, pressies etc, just make the expensive stuff wait until the sale prices hit. I have never done that but I am inclined to suggest it.

  • I have to say that this isn't something I've ever done...but think I will be starting to in January...December is never a 'normal' month so will start it in January - new year new start etc...

I think I'm going to be very scared at what I see!!!!!!!!

    Hi

Get some of your mates to buy different magazines and swap them around after each of you have read them - that way you can still have all the magazines you were used to.

If you want to buy wrapping paper, Tescos have some snowflakey stuff for 2m for 16p a roll, on red or blue background.

    Great idea Phil,

I'd not even thought of that.

    Thanks
