I am due to book a hol to SA next year and do not have a credit card (have good credit rating, but they terrify me!). Have debit card with Smile (internet bank) but I need the best card to pay for my ticket on (will pay off holiday in 6 months max) and also to use over there to either get cash out or probably use in shops? What is the best travel insurance to get and I am booking hol with Travel Counsellors?
Also do I wait for air taxes to go down or run the risk of them increasing?
This is so stressful already and I haven't even got there!

Hi, i can only really assist in a credit card. I have got one JUST for holidays abroad. Its a Post Office credit card. I DO NOT get cash out,(when abroad) i am not 100% positive but i believe all CARDS will charge you if you use this to obtain cash, other users might clarify this... But on the other hand the post office card do NOT charge you a percentage fee to use in shops or anywhere you do not use if for withdrawal directly...

If you book through travel counsellors you can pay by debit card and still have atol cover. Also travel counsellors have a really good financial trust which means that they pay out i the event of a supplier failure!0
