Adult Shoes for Child ? VAT

Whilst looking for trainers for my 13yr old who takes an adult size 6 I was told that some shoe shops will deduct VAT if an adult size is purchased for a child. Does anyone know if this is correct and, if so, which shops would do this?

See paragraph 4.3. Up to size 6.5 is accepted as boys' footwear and OK for zero rating. Larger sizes will only be zero rated subject to the shop jumping through some serious hoops, including notifying HMRC in advance for written agreement.0 -
I've never heard of this. my 11 year old daughter took a size 8 1/2 and no one mentioned a discount for children.. I wish there was as it would have saved me a small fortune. She's now 12 and longs like her feet have stopped growing at 8 1/2. Can't get half sizes which means going into a size 9. Not many shops sell ladies shoes upto a size 9 and if they do they are too big. Last winter had to pay £80 on a pair of boots in Office because I couldn't find anything else suitable anywhere else:mad:0
