Learning to drive the DFW way

I'm going to start taking driving lessons soon, but i have so much debt that i can't really afford to do so.

Being able to drive will really help my career as well, I work in TV and so having the ability to drive will mean i can take more jobs and can then get paid more. its a catch 22 thing!

I do have a provisional licence, it was a Christmas present from my mum (she gave me a cheque addressed to the DVLA so i couldn't spend it on anything else!)

does anyone have any tips on being DFW and still able to take professional lessons?

    Hi there,

Do you have any family or friends that can help teach you? If they have the patience to show you the ropes to give you the basic skills, you will be much better equipted and will need less lessons to get to the stage where you're ready for your test.

They can help you learn by seeing repeatedly, so when you learn by doing you've already got a good idea what you're supposed to be doing.
  • I have a friend who is teaching the driving instructor's daughter the piano in exchange for lessons. Good exchange of skills I thought. Kind of relies on knowing the driving instructor in the first place though! Hang round outside the driving school and try to make a new friend??!
