Best site to order a mattress on next day delivery?

Hi all

I need to order a double mattress, seen lots of sites offering delivery next day, but wanting to know which is the most reliable and reputable?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

First things first, what mattress are you ordering? Ive had a bad experience recently with Silentnight and would recommend that you avoid those mattresses for a start. They are part of the same group as Rest Assured and Sealy which are also poor quality now. Plenty of sites are good with delivery and service, but you want to make sure the mattress is right 1st!

See the 'which mattress' thread further down...

There's cheap and there's cheap. Considering you spend about 1/3rd of your life in bed, it's more important than just 'any mattress that's cheap', otherwise i'd recommend cardboard! ;)

The 'cheapest' you could get would be an open-coil mattress without much comfort. What do you consider cheap and maybe I can suggest a slightly better quality within your budget?

I can recommend this company here. Ordered late afternoon and delivered free before 10:00AM the next morning.

    Espresso,

You recommended mattressonline - I purchased from them too.

They were great - delivery turned up as arranged, everything fine, no problems at all.

Until, after 6 months, the mattress fell to pieces. And now this company are making me jump through hoops to get a refund. I suspect I'm going to have to resort to the small claims court.

    So I'd say... beware mattressonline.

If I were you I would stay away from big brand names and big chain stores if you want good quality at a low price, and shop on line from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee that allows you to actually unpack and sleep on the mattress. This way it is in their interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time.

It seems that there are a few negative reviews for mattressonline in this thread

    Hi Tim

I think I read somewhere that you are also in the mattress industry?

Maybe you could answer some questions for me:

I bought a Sealy mattress (thought it was supposed to be good quality) 6 months ago. I bought it specifically for the edge-to-edge technology, as I like to make use of every inch of mattress. This technology has failed completely - this support bar can now be felt about a third of the way down the side of the mattress, and it has pulled the mattress with it, resulting in very round edges all the way, and it doesn't even have proper corners anymore - just a very curved end. This shows up very clearly in the photo I was requested to take. In addition, the sides of the mattress seem to be buckling already.

My claim is 100% legitimate - this mattress will not last another 6 months - and both my husband and I are in normal weight ranges, so it's not as if undue stress has been placed on this mattress.

How long should I give mattressonline to resolve this problem before I take it up with small claims court? I suspect they're going to do everything they can to (1) delay the claim and (2) not refund me.

They have already said the photos do not show the damage when they clearly do (my husband is a photographer!) and have asked for further photos. This in itself lets me know they plan to make this one long, painful ride so I was wondering if I should just consult with a lawyer now (I get free legal aid as a perk in my job) and cut straight to the chase.

(I need to buy a new mattress asap as my back is now hurting).

In your experience - how long do you think they'd take to resolve it if they were planning to? (For example, they said they need to send the photos to Sealy - but I bought the mattress from them, not Sealy, so their issue with Sealy should be separate to my claim from them).

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

As you say, your claim is with the retailer and not Sealy. It is up to them to claim for their loss with Sealy.

If I were you I would contact Trading Standards (consumer direct) immediately. They will give you a reference number. Then you need to send them a letter stating that they have no dealt with your claim within a reasonable time, and that you have now contacted Trading Standards (quote ref number). Give them 7 days from the date on the letter to respond, otherwise you will start legal proceedings.

As far as the exact wording goes, I would ask one of the lawyers at work.
