    I'm not claiming much, just over a couple of hundred for each of the past two years.
    But better I have it back than give it to the tax man.
  • You should give your local tax office a ring after about a month. When you call they will likely ask you if you have waited 28 days, if you have not they will just tell you to wait till 28 days.

    These next few months are a busy time for HMRC as we have just passed the deadline for self assessment tax returns done on paper, and the deadline for online filing is Jan 31st 2009 so a lot of HMRC resources will be diverted to working these.
