as he said he has no assets etc and rents which is why the cca said perhaps you should go bancrupt

    Who is that? cca?

Is that Citizen's advice or the Consumer Credit Counselling Service? Or a different debt advisor?

  • yes he spoke to the cca who suggested bankrupt but when they found out he was talking to cab they suggested he stay with them as he was not in a postion to offer anything to his creditors other than 1p, i pestered him to contact them glad i did becouse they drummed in to him to token payment his debts and pay rent etc etc , this he did and as said up to date in the main , some dca have given generous discounts he had 2 capital one cards £750 and £950 they wrote and said they would take £125 and £135 i offered him the money but he wouldnt take it even the ones he pays phone him every day for more money robinson way sent a debt collector my mate showed him the settlrment figure offers and said if i could i would and off he toddled but since the visit 3 calls a day from them.
To be honest he copes until he gets the type of letter as stated at the start and he finaly realises he comes first debts second, unless they are the essentials , i to be honest did say i think the original letter may be a bluff as they know he rents and has know assets so as you said it would be nice of them.
