West yorkshire villages - buying a house

I'm planning to buy a 2 bedroom house somewhere in west yorkshire in the next 6-12 months. My budget will be up to £160 K, and i'd like to live somewhere close to a train station with good links to Leeds. My job takes me all over west yorkshire, so i don't want anywhere too remote or difficult to commute from. I like villages such as saltaire and haworth- somewhere with character and a few bars and restaurants. Any more ideas?

Saltaire has everything and a real village feel, it does get busy with tourists during summer weekends, but how many people live in a World Heritage site? Excellent for commuting. 20 minutes fom Leeds, 15 from Bradford and links to the north west.
All the original houses are listed, so repairs can be expensive, especially to windows and doors. They have an annual festival in September and the place gets rammed, but it brings everyone together. Everyone I know who lives there loves it.
Haworth is OK, but a bit remote, no regular rail service and in winter heavy snow is not uncommon.0 -
Yeah, i do love saltaire but my boyfriend lives there so i think it might be a bit much if i move there too!0

Roberttown near Mirfield can be quiet - but few decent pub/ restaurants there.
good to get on the M62 without having to use the A62 if its blocked via backroads.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
Hebden Bridge or Todmorden******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Menston might be good - not many bars / pubs (there are some, close to ilkley / otley / guiseley which are full of them) but a decent train station with regular trains to leeds amoungst others. good luck with your hunt0

In fact guiseley might be better - also has a good train station and better bus links0

why not try ledsham or ledston, fairburn or even castleford0
