Pension Performance Query

Options
Hi All,

NOrmally a lurker so sorry if I get this all wrong...

I decided that I would like to switch my pension funds so called my provider (HBOS) to get the symbols for the funds I was interested in. All I was primarily interested in was doing a bit of independant research before I switched.

I have now been told by 2 customer service agents that they do not have access to the symbols and that I should use their own web service to check performance. Is this correct?

The funds are managed by Insight Investment and I the fundI really wanted to look into was called the Insight Management North American Stake. My current funds are the UK FTSE All Share Pn Stake and IM Far Eastern Pn Stake.

Sorry if this is a bit wishy washy but any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Back to lurking now.

LOL. You have a tied provider but want to do independent research? ;)

No its not. All unit linked funds have fund codes. (with the exception of some instituational level funds). However, I would not expect a tied provider to make its staff aware of these.

The citicode for that is H043.

The fund manager is Thomas Digenan. he has managed the fund since April 2006. Tom Digenan joined UBS Global Asset Management in 1993. Prior to joining the US equity team, Tom was president of mutual funds and the relationship funds organization. Based in Chicago, Tom participates in the analysis and development of US equity portfolios, and is responsible for communicating UBS's equity strategy to clients and investment consultants. Tom has been working in the investment industry since 1986. Prior to joining UBS, Tom was a senior manager in the tax department of KPMG Peat Marwick, where he worked exclusively in the investment services industry. Tom is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Chicago and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants

The fund is smack in the middle as far as risk goes compared to other funds in it's sector. It tends to skirt up and down either side of the sector average. The fund is nothing special and a European tracker would be just as good and cheaper.
