trex - it's the heating that eats the gas at ours.
I had a week using 46kWh gas, then one at 69kWh, followed by another at 46kWh (due to read again tomorrow) -- and the only difference in the middle week is that I knocked the heating on (at 18-19 degrees) for about 3 or 4 hours
The water heater also bumps it up though, as I was averaging 10.5kWh over the summer, but it dropped to 7 when I changed the timer so it only heats for 30 mins in the morning instead of 1hr morning and 1hr evening. (So 3.5kWh equates to 10.5hrs of the water heater if my use of the hob has held pretty steady -- which I think it has)
Dread to think what tomorrow will bring, as I've forced the heating on again one day, and I'm pretty certain it's now kicking in automatically (had to drop the thermostat to 16 degrees as DH is getting very chesty -- a side effect of his radiotherapy, but can't risk missing picking up on him starting with a cold!)Cheryl0 -
The nothing with a face eating plan started this morning. I've had banana sandwiches for breakfast and have HM veg soup for lunch. Tonight I am having a savoury rice concoction I make which is very nice indeed!! I will certainly get my 5 a day this way:p

Janey - big hugs. What a great idea from Sophiesmum about a little book of memories. I loved the latest too as I think family history is very important to give a sense of possibility. I will never forget my Nan half dozing by the fire talking about Uncle Sid - he was the one who was imprisoned in New zealand for bigamy! (This was in the early 1900s). You learn so much about the world when it's personal to you.
Sophiesmum - yes please to up-close-stockpiling photos. I feel inspired.
Today I should be restructuring my life and deciding if I can survive without another part time job. However, I have decided that it will be easier to do this if I have got all the Xmas presents done so I shall be going out shopping first!
I tried to open an egg isa yesterday to put emergency savings in on the basis that that may encourage me to keep it purely for emergency. But they need to write out to me apparently (for id checks I assume). The impulse to be sensible may be gone by the time I get their letter, lol!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Even nicer with cinnamon sprinkled on the banana. (Or mashed banana and cinnamon on toast is a top tip picked up from my friend last week). mmm yum.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. ps SkintLynne, it doesn't sound like you're getting much protein in your new plan? Pulses and beans will sort you out with that. Good luck with it all.The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hi Bails,
I threw some lentils into my Hm soup, so that should help. I like nuts and things as well, are they protein providers? Are you veggie, you could share some of your recipies if you are:T :T :T .

Janey, I too think that's a great idea from Sophiesmum - something really special. Your memories of your mum are wonderful; I love reading them.
Sophiesmum, I'm in awe of the cupboard - you could provision a siege from that lot! Aspirational, I'd say (I have two small boxes under the bed.)
Whitewing - with you on the banana cinnamon toast. Yum!
Skint Lynne - I've mentioned this before somewhere on past threads but there's a very well-respected nutritional expert in America, can't do links but you can find him, his name's Dr Fuhrman. He favours vegan diets and he's not some charismatic fruitcake - he goes into all the research, proper scientific stuff, and his books give you loads of info.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Thanks redglass,
I'll have a look into that,
