Hello Everyone,
I am going to be doing my budget for next year this week, been meaning to do it for ages. Also need to write christmas cards out for DD nursery friends and DS school friends and of course all my friends.
I been going over my food budget and i think £25-£30 a week is about right for me and 2 small children. We hardly ever eat here at dinner time as we always at someone elses house.
I need to set up my cotents insurance too which expired like 2months ago too.
Need to de clutter my house.. I have lots of hidden mess and its driving me crazy, I also need to clean my house ready for my mums inspection as she is over from cyprus on wednesday dinner..but not seeing her till saturday. Also going to see some naked men on saturday night and then into town.. got to drop my kids off in Blackpool where my mum and sister will watch my kids so that will be about £9 on train fare. But on Sunday my Mum will bring them back for me and then go shopping togetherBut then on xmas eve im all on my own with kids - bit scared that il be lonely once kids in bed as never spent xmas eve on my own. But going to familys on xmas day.
Im going to be including EVERYTHING in my budget for next year. Im on prepayment now and my heating on all the time at mo on low.. ging to be costing me about £30 on gas and elec is going to be £10 a week.Sealed Pot dec 08 - dec 09 so far £27.67, Live off £4k Spent £330.20 GC £1,200 for 2009 Spent £50.78 PaD so far £650.07Debts: L/woods £154.00 C/One PAID O/D £649.90 Next £299.95 O/D PAID Gas £72.60 Electric £155.73 Mum £640.00 Orange £490.320 -

You mean you can find naked men in the country? I obviously haven't been paying enough attention.
Mumzy, don't worry about being alone on Xmas eve. You can make it a time to think about all the things you've achieved this year and what you want to do in the future. It's not long and then you'll enjoy Xmas Day even more.
Marru, sorry about your Ratty Boy. It's sad that we outlive the animals we love.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Marru really sorry you had to find your little pet like that. Not nice just before Christmas.
Nice to welcome another new frugalite dND
sophiesmum pleased you cleared it up about your missing "a" key. I thought it was some kind of surrealistic in-joke I knew nothing about and was too embarassed to admit it
Hi DdraigGoch How's the log situation? Mine is approaching the serious level
mumzy Naked men eh? Room for a small person?
I am having a "be nice to me" afternoon starting in 15 minutes.
Tree lights on. Candles lit. Chocolate biscuits. Glass of Baileys. Living TV. Log burner and central heating on.
Blow the expense.
I'm worth it :rotfl:0 -

I was working through my budget again last night and this morning -- changing some of the figures to more correct values, and changing a few to values that are probably more realistic (with some scope for savings, but less likely to be exceeded).
Had to go and collect a bike this morning (DD's main pressie for elder GD), and as I set off for home I suddenly got totally depressed when I realised (don't ask me why at that point) that I hadn't included my car breakdown cover
So I've just had to try and find out the cost (no longer require cover for DH so it's not as much as last year), and have now got another £69.50 as a set amount for that -- bringing my 'everything else' down to a terrifyingly low £153.88
Also having a panic about my car insurance..... I've put in an amount for my renewal (in August), but have realised this morning that the direct debit for the current year runs right up until then -- meaning another 7 payments of £24.65 / total £172.55, bringing my 'anything else' down to a negative figure unless I raise my budget from £8k
I'm going to try and get in touch with them this week and see what it would cost to pay the balance now.... not sure how it works though, as it's officially on a credit agreement of some sort (at 16.9% APR). If it costs me more to settle up now (don't know if it's got one of these early redemption charge penalty clauses), then I'll have to leave it running and try and decide what to do about my budgetBut if it's the same (or hopefully less), then I'll get it paid before the end of the month.
And I'm still not sure I've worked out the remaining costs for my mobile contract right, and need to check one of the other figures too -- so it could drop even lower !!!
I think I'm going to have to convince DD to chip in towards some of the costs of me having my GDs here, even if she doesn't take me up on the cooked evening mealsCheryl0 -
I agree with Sophiesmum and Bails. This thread is where I come to when money issues get me down. This year I've given up my job to go self employed, had no money coming in for months but things are starting to pick up now. I've also paid off £100K from my mortgage since joining MSE in Dec 2007! This has meant a much reduced standard of living from what I used to have but I'm now happier than ever, and with less debt. Looking back, things are better since finding this challenge. And you've not been at all mean to me, even though I have spent £500 on "wants" not needs and a fair bit in Waitrose! Thanks all and have a great Christmas!2009 CLEAR MORTGAGE:starmod: (17/2/09) LIVE ON 4K Q1:staradmin(£5,405) SAVE 30K (£9.500)0

Stuff the naked men, can I come round yours please Janey?
Great to see you'll be joining us again next year Mumzy :T and don't worry about Christmas Eve, I'd get an early night if I were you as I'm sure the kids'll be up early doors
WOW 1274, that is a truly amazing amount you've paid off your mortgage :T:T:T Can I ask how you managed it? You are my new hero :j
Sorry, I have no idea who Norman Collier is, which is more to do with being uneducated than being young!
CW, is 8k the amount you will have to survive on or is it a self-imposed target? I hope you get some joy with the car ins.
I want to give some money to a cancer charity this year as lots of my friends have recently been diagnosed with various forms and was hoping to pick your brains about the best ones. I'd be interested to hear about any charities which have helped you or someone you know rather than simply giving to the well-known ones. I have personal experience with Macmillan who were wonderful (and who also provide fantastic support if you ever want to run London BTW) but I'd like to hear of others out there. NOOOO, that's the wrong way round Bails, you (and everyone else on the thread) are the heros. I couldn't have done it without all of you guys (and emptying my savings, which netted almost 50K LOL) It's easy to pay off large amounts if you have a large income/large savings, what's really inspiring is to see how you all manage to make savings on little incomes. If I could only manage my money as well as Nyk, Sopiesmum, you, Janey and everyone else, that would be really something!2009 CLEAR MORTGAGE:starmod: (17/2/09) LIVE ON 4K Q1:staradmin(£5,405) SAVE 30K (£9.500)0 -

Thats one of my missions too... I lost my lovely sis to ovarian cancer a few months ago -I wanted to do something for the local hopsice back home -who looked after her for her last 10 days at home... I can't give time etc until we move back home for good so for now I have started by selling my home made jewellery etc on the "nonny mouse site" ..the beads and stuff I had anyway -so Its not costing me any more as such..and anything I make (I have asked to be paid in Iceland stamps :rotfl: ) but when I move back Im giving the cash equivalent to the hospice:D ... I have made about £60 so far...its a start ...Im also going to try and make things for them to sell at their open days-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50
