hello everyone.
Bails get well soon.
Marru I hope dd is better soon too. Had my GD here since Mon. night as she is also ill and her mum can not have anymore time off work.
Just finished reading the latest posts after having to fiddle with the security settings on the wireless thingy. I was having trouble with the internet and when I checked there was someone using our wireless on their phone. It's not that I am mean but since the owner is the one responsible for what is downloaded i am not taking any chances. Does anyone else have wireless and do you understand the security stuff? It is as clear as mud for me and I have only been able to do the MAC address thing on the wireless and firewall settings. I have tried other things on it but had to backtrack because no one could get onto the internet afterwards.
I just started to work out a budget for next year It is a little scary at the minute because I have some friends coming sometime next year for a few weeks from Australia so that will cause me a few headaches.0 -
Could someone add me to the list as practicing for 2009?0

And which 2 cats would you like.
Today's choice is:
1. Fat cat, size of horse who purrs so loudly no TV can be heard.
2. Bad tempered "Top Cat" who demands treats day and night and sleeps on stairs causing occasional severe injury to sleepy owner.
3. Annoying cat who sleeps on laptop, dribbles down back of neck when happy and is addicted to cheeses.
4. Old cat who refuses to eat anything but sardines...not very MSE.

lilac_lady I find a "cash only" lifestyle really does make me spend less. Good luck for 2009.
Marru wish someone would jump start me in the morning
Nyk I seem to spend a lot feeding birds and I have found a local shop as cheap as anywhere but I really must keep a closer eye on my spends in that area. A friend who has a business did buy me a gigantic bag of peanuts for £4 from a wholesalers in Dec 07 but it is nearly empty.
I am hoping to get some Christmas presents for Christmas 09 in the Jan sales.
I think I will do food hampers for a niece and nephew as they went down very well and I remember how I loved getting my hamper when the kids were little. I can collect stuff throughout the year as bargains appear.
Like others on this challenge, I have enough of certain things (toiletries) to last all of next year so that will be a big saving.
I start the New Year with a full freezer so I will be trying to empty that in case I have to move...more savings.
It's just that I love to cook and it's not very exciting cooking for one so I do tend to spend more than I should cooking things to give to other people.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Need to make a start on daughter's dress, and have a look around market for some buttons for the boys waistcoats I made. Also pop into Pr*mark to see if I can get them some trousers to go with the waistcoats for Xmas day, or I could check out the closing down sale of Woollies I guess. Problem is I don't want to go outside cause its cold.:o

morning all
nykmedia- you frightened the life out off me saying you will add me to the list. lol. If you are having trainees or practise members could i be one of those please- dont want to show myself upstraight away! cutting down is all well and good but dont think i could manage so low immediately, little steps for me....think im a bit of a wimp. but i do need to get some savings together.
could i ask a couple of questions? is that ok?
How do you all manage to stockpile so much on a low budget?
How do you manage for new clothes? Thats my big weakness im afraid.
And what do you all do for fun/leisure/nights out etc? (not that i get many nights out but im interested.
I have got a large old garden and already convinced hubby to did out the weed patch (approx 25x 40 feet) which has lived in neglect at the back for years ( behind a hedge) so i can try and get some veggies going in the spring. My dad has an allotment so im sure once i tell him he will go on at me non stop with advice.
will try to look closely at my budget over christmas.

Good morning everybody,
Janey: No 1 and 4 please! Or I have better idea, why don't you come here, you are more welcome to cook and bring them all, I am sure they would keep my not cat loving dog at bay. And my DD can then give you the jump in the morning.
DD is better and asked for breakfast. Sad thing is that she missed her preschool Christmas party which is on as I type this. If she is well enough on Sunday I will take her to zoo to see the raindeers and get a pressie from Santa Claus.
Bless my mum. She is obviously ok as she remembered what I asked for Christmas. She sent me some rye rusks and my favourite chocolate biscuits that I asked (can't get either in UK) and some (=lots) additional chocolates and she had made woolly socks for me and DD. I will need to get her cats into post today (decorative not real). I have now soooo much chocolate for christmas and that is just what I wanted/needed so my christmas is sorted, just need to get some food on xmas eve when reductions will start. I really would like to get nice piece of pork to roast, as that is part of my xmas tradition.
Better start digging into my book boxes to find something to sent to my brother's family and get everything wrapped and into post office.
Have a frugalistic day!!
