Can't find anything about this scheme :(

Not sure they'd do it round us anyway, as our local council is currently rolling out doorstep collections of tins/cans/glass/plastic milk cartons/clean yoghurt and margarine tubs

Go into tesco.com, thn into greener living. Then into 'at home' section. Then into how we are helping section. Then pick new automatic recycling at tesco stores. There is a green click here to show you where the stores are. Let me know if you are near one and how it goes.

SL - just had a play with the nPower site, and asked it for quotes based on my gas & electricity (wouldn't let me do gas only) useage over the last year (I have readings 2 days short of a year apart, so accurate enough for me!)

The options I got (paying by monthly DD) were
    1. standard - at £92.16/month
    2. capped price until 2010 - at £101,23/month
    3. sign online 13 (which I guess is the closest to yours) - at £79.37/year

so it appears that 'sign online' is currently the cheapest, but it doesn't seem to have capped or fixed prices -- so it could shoot up over the next 12 months!!

but the most interesting fact for me was that they're ALL more expensive than my current supplier (Scottish Power), by (in order of options as listed above) £280/yr, £130/yr and £390/year

Would definitely suggest checking what Martin says about swapping now and get on-line quotes!

    Thanks :)

The closest with this facility is a "mere" 9.7 miles each way, but unfortunately isn't an area I'd head to for anything else :(

Our closest store is a 3.5 mile round trip which I walk for most visits, the closest large store is 4.34 miles away (also on a bus route, and at the same complex as the B/S I have to go to once a month to pay the mortgage), and the big store I use from time to time (only reachable for us by car, but on the same complex as a large Mr A, Argos and Pets At Home) is 9.35 miles each way.

I've been looking at the gas and leccy rates this morning and it looks as if npower are still the best for me, I can save £100 per year. I have checked out the quidco and grasypalm you all talk about and greasypalm offer cashback for npower. Does it actually work?

Hi Lynda, I hope you get your money SOON! Mine isn't with Ice (or Kaupthing, for that matter) but I'd really like to know that it's somewhere I can lay my hands on it when I need it.

Should I move my stooze pot out of ICICI, which is India? It would be awful to temporarily 'lose' money belonging to a credit card company!   I'm amazed that Martin hasn't been warning people about this after advocating Kaupthing (Iceland) as a good place to save. I was actually shocked by that at the time because the press releases were already warning of a shaking financial state in Iceland at that time.

Just heard the Icesave news :( and my thoughts go out to you Linda.

    BBC online is saying
"Customers of the Icesave internet bank have been warned they will probably have to claim compensation for money held in their savings accounts."

    as for guarantees
"Under the depositor protection arrangements in Iceland and the UK, the Icelandic authorities will be liable for the first 20,887 euros (£16,300) of compensation. "
    and
"The UK's FCSC will pay out the rest of the claims, up to the newly introduced ceiling of £50,000 per person."

I do hope that your savings are covered
