I use a small teapot when making tea for myself. I can't bear teabags in a cup. (my mother has a lot to answer for!) Went to Mr A's today and bought 4 x packs of 2 fresh Scottish chicken breasts at 30p each. All in freezer now. Good start to October shopping.

    Hello all,

I am too tired to read through all the messages posted today but will play catch up tomorrow.

Children's parties: need to arrange party for DD when she hits four in months time  and my house is definitely [strike]too full of books[/strike] too small and I don't have the energy for all the baking and organising so need to hunt around SOON to find something reasonable. It will be for 9 quests with 6 parents.

My ex promised today to hand the log book of my car back to me. Fingers crossed that it actually will happen. The downside is that in the end of this month I need then to insure it and as I have only been a named driver (and my car is left hand drive) the insurance will cost a bomb. I am trying not to think about it until I actually have the car in my name and then I will do everything MSE to get the best deal.

I am shattered so off I go now...

    Night night,

    Marru

PS I have decided to take a fifth guinea pig...

Good Evening Everyone, How are we all?

I have not posted a long post for ages so i thought i better write one :D

College is really good and im loving it already :D

I have spent £6.68 today. I had to buy the kids chippy tea tonight as i did not get in from DS swimming lesson till 6.45pm. I also called into Netto and bought a bag of bbq ribs for £1.99 and carte noire coffee is in Netto for £1.99 at the moment think the offer ends on 5th October though. I thought that was a really good buy, dont you think??

I also spent £20.98 today on food and got some baking ingredients in to make Chochlate fudge cake and peanut butter cookies. It should of been £28.98 but i had a £3 healthy start voucher and a £5 miles voucher that my "friend" gave me.

I have lost count of what I have spent already so dont think im going to start till next year but im going to work out what everything will cost me next year and go from there, I really dont want to loose count next year.
How do you all not manage to loose count of what you have spent..as say when im in market..they don't give reciepts and then i forget my time i get home.

My "friend" has just come and we are going to order a takeaway and watch a bit of tv.

    See you all tomorrow

PS: Who is behind PrincessAnn??? Own up lol!!

I had a bizarre thing in my veg box today. It's called a romanescu. It's almost too pretty to eat.... Has anyone got any ideas of what to do with it? Apart from take photos of it, I've done that already :rotfl:
According to Wikipedia it's a type of broccolli / cauliflower

I've got a very small 'smartprice' notebook from Mr A. I just carry that and a pen with me (and if I forget I use my mobile phone..... either a 'draft' text message, or mine has Word on it so I run a document for the day).

    Hello all

firstly... Lyndasharp - I love romanesk..and it is very like cauli -so make a lovely cauli cheese :D

Anyway -Im about to go back and catch up on the last 6 pages ..im hoping to join you all in 2009 if thats ok :p ..its not long now either  .
I will have to work something out as I only really deal with the housekeeping -(bills etc come straight from hubbies wages -rent/gas/electric etc) and the rest DD from his bank ---but I have spent this year getting the groceries right under control on the grocery challenge thread ;) .. So im pondering -and Im sure someone here will come up with some good ideas :T ... I have €450 a month -now that is just for food, toiletries and cleaning stuff for the 2 of us  ...
So that makes €5400 a year.... well I have my average month down to under €100 -sometime a little more but sometime less ... so I might set my goal to be to spend no more than €1200  and then I can carry on stashing the rest  , so far the savings this year have paid to get the car mended when she started playing up, got hubby a rather expensive golf club for his birthday..and various other bits n bobs..and I have just over €1000 saved too :shhh:
Right i will stop waffling and go back and catch up on the pages :D see what tips I can pick up ;)

I've no debt and no mortgage so don't need to live on £4000 now but I'd like to save some money next year. I think I'll do a "cheaty" £4000 challenge split into £1000 every 3 months. The cheating part is that I'm not going to include Gas, Electricity, Council tax, TV licence, TV/Broadband and charity DD's. Everything else will be taken out of my "allowance". If I can keep within that budget, I'll be happy. I'm full of admiration for those of you who exist well on so little money. I've done that in the past so feel that I can allow myself some leeway now that I'm retired.
