I wanna bring stuff back from the states

Options
Hello all,

Some family are coming back from the states fro xmas and have asked if I would like something brought back.

I have no idea what they have out there that is cheaper/not released here yet - things like gadgets/etc which would be cool to have here! :)

Anyone know of anything cool? Twinky bars excluded! ;)

Much appreciated.

  • Current release DVD's are definately cheaper (although you will need a multi region dvd player check https://www.dvd365.net to see if your current machine can be made region free). Plus they are compact to carry. Particularly useful if you have kids into things like Power Rangers etc that they will watch time and time again. Also Ray Ban sunglasses if that is your thing can be a lot cheaper, look around on line for styles and prices and see if they can be bought cheaper. Almost all labels of clothing like Timberland, Tommy Hilfiger and even GAP are a lot cheaper, esp at the outlet malls. I bought some Timberland shoes for $20 that were £100 here, and a leather coat for $150 that was £500 here. Be wary of electrical goods and gadgets as they may need step down transformers (US uses 110 v whereas we are 220v), and also you may have warranty problems should there be any faults.

We are lucky enough to be going in a couple of weeks, but there certainly wont be any space in our bags! Not bought an item of clothing this year!!

  • Go onto some US websites such as:

    http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/home.do
    https://www.walmart.com
    http://www.bestbuy.com/

Compare prices but do not forget to add state tax which may be around 7% depending on which state the item is bought.

Unlikely but they may get charged import duty (VAT) when bringing back to UK. Most of the time they do not check but if they do it is advisable to discard the packaging and say that the items were bought previously elsewhere.
