Hi all,

I have been in communication with the tax office for a while now trying to sort out my last 2 tax years with P45's and various information going both ways.

When all was sorted Revenue and Customs sent through a tax calculation for the year 2006/07 which is as follows.

Job 1 Income - £8630 Tax - £1101.51

Job 2 Income - £223 Tax - £49.16

Job Seekers Income - £949 Refund - £395.72

Job Seekers Income - £280 Refund - £52.35

Total Income - £10082 Total Tax - 702.60

Personal Allowance - £5035

Income tax is chargeable on this amount - £5047

Tax on £5047:

Starting rate at 10.00% on £2150 = £215
Basic rate at 22.00% on £2897 = £637.34

Total £852.34

£852.34 - £702.60 = £149.74. They are saying i owe them £149.74 in tax now.

The only P45's i can find for the year 06/07 are Job 1 - Income £8350.98 Tax - £1153.82 and Jobseekers Income £949.

I was just woundering would anyone be able to tell me if the information they have sent me is correct as the pay i have on my P45 and what it says on the tax calculation are different.

They can only go on the information provided by your employers. If your P45's show something different, then you need to send them copies of these and ask them to check with your ex employers.
