mckenzie hall question?

hi there,
i have just registered with the forum as i was seeking some advice about mckenzie hall - i know its a covered topic but couldnt find a direct answer to my question so wanted to start a new thread and get some specific advise.
my parents got a call yesterday ( at their home which i moved out of about 2 years ago ) asking for me to call them with a reference number etc and it was urgent, my parents didnt give any info away and told me about the call.
i looked them up on the internet and obviously now see that they are a strange bunch.
I own a house which i have lived in for the past couple of years so they obviously have not got up to date records on me, and also i did an experian credit check on myself this morning which shows up no debts, miss paymets etc on any account or direct debit ever.
would this put me in the clear, i dont want debt against my name so would want to sort i out if i had some. but at the same time i do not wish to enter any relationship with mckenzie hall if i dont have to.,
so to sum up, if i have no recollection of any debt - and experian shows no sign of it as well in my credit history. So am i ok to leave it alone.
im only 24. i know there is a rule about debt over 6 years being written off, but it cant be over 6 years old as that would make me under 18 when i got it - so im concern i have a mystery debt in the last 6 years that i owe and the only way of finding out about it, is to engage with mckenzie hall?
any advice would be much appreciate..

MH may be contacting you as they have a debt for someone with the same name as you. They do these fishing trips from time to time.
There are 3 credit reference agencies, so just because experian does not have a record of this debt does not mean it does not exist. You could leave it alone, or you could phone them and enquire about it.
It is usually advised to NEVER phone a DCA as you really don't want them to get a hold of your number. You could block your number using 141 (i think) and contact them, or just ignore it. Even if the debt wasn't statute barred, depending on what the debt was for, you could request a copy of the CCA and if they didn't have it, the debt would be unenforcable. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

thanks for the advice,
so if i checked on the other credit sites besides experian and nothing came up on there would it be pretty conclusive that they are just fishing?0 -
You can check the other CRA's (£2 each) if you wish, but as they don't have your address and only sent a letter saying call us, i think you can assume that they are fishing. It may be your debt, but if they were sure it was your debt they would have sent you a letter stating the details or account it was for.
If you wanted, you could just ignore it and if they got in touch again, then contact them (if at all). Just make sure that they can't get your number or they may be harrassing you on the phone to pay this debt. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

thanks george,
much appreciated. they only have my parents details so cant get directly to me at the moment which is why i do not want to contact directly myself and open up a can of worms.
ill just leave it and see what happens. Thanks again :T0 -
It is best not to respond to phone calls . Where do you think they got the number ? You would think they would have a address as well . I would just ignore till they send a letter . But if they are fishing they may not have correct details . If and when a letter is sent ,check if details are correct spellings etc . If anything is incorrect , reply only using ref no they use , no name address . Say you have no knowledge of any debt to their company ,and suggest they check detail with their client . I had two letters last year , with a couple of spelling mistakes , wrote back and advised they made checks . Heard nothin since .0
