Boiling Bacon

years ago I used to buy a bit of boiling bacon for a really cheap meal but I have been looking for it in the supermarkets and it seems to have dissappeared altogether does anyone remember it or anm I going doollally at last:D If I remember we would eat it with pease pudding or mushy peas and mash

Don't know if it's the same thing but I buy ham houghs for this purpose. Pease pudding is lovely with it. :drool: Maybe you should ask your butcher?
I also buy the cooked ham joints from the rottisserie in MR T which I use for any ham based soup and they're £1.75.0 -
I "think" they just call them gammon joints now (so they can charge more!
). I buy those and boil them. Bit pricey but you can make a few meals out of them if your careful.

I did this on Sunday got a large 1.8kg piece, we had 3 adults & 2 kids for dinner, made 3 large portions of pea & ham soup with the water which are now in the freezer, then sandwiches, bacon & pasta for tea on Monday and theres still a big piece left which will be added to the bean stew from the freezer for tea tonight! Ok it cost £9ish from Mr T but has done loads of meals so I'm happy to pay that price.0
