Fidelity chart tool

Options
Hi I wonder if anyone especially and IFA on the board can advise. Lately I have been monitoring my pensions funds prices regularly using the chart tool to draw up a graph based on the daily option. Now that option has seems to have disappeared. The smallest time frame option is now yearly!

Is this the same for you, if so has this been taken away due to the number of people looking at the funds in short term views during this crisis? I see nothing on the fidelity site about it. As far as I know the site was the only place to get as good detail about fund prices down to a daily level.

Can anyone help please?

I dont use the Fidelity chart tool I'm afraid. I use financial express. Although, IIRC, Fidelity use Morningstar as the software backbone and I highly doubt they would have removed that option. How long has it been gone for?

Fidelity do use Morningstar for fund info and detail - but the charting tool is branded

I don't use the tool as you do but I'm sure shorter periods than a year were available in the past. Why not ask Fidelity through their secure messaging system?

As for other sites - TRUSTNET perhaps?

Financial Express is trustnet (trustnet is the consumer brand for it). It seems strange that Fidelity use both morningstar and FE for different bits. I'm sure they used to use morningstar for the lot. Maybe thats why there is a difference (although Financial Express allow selection of short periods).

About two weeks. I will have a look at financial express as an alternative. Thanks!

An update. I have phoned fidelity and was told that yes they have removed this option of looking at time frames of less than a year, "due to regulatory requirements which they cannot go into at this time".

I pressed for more detail and expressed my concern that removing the option takes away the usefulness of the tool, but no more info was divulged by the guy. It was not due to the current state of the market. Something is fishy -any ideas anyone?

Rubbish. They dont want inexpereinced investors looking at short term drops and pulling out. Or, an alternative possibility is that they get charged more for having various options. I know that was the case with a certain tool which would only show specific periods. If you wanted more you had to pay more.

I think you are right there DH. A bit more info, I have had a message reply now that states:

"Thank you for your email regarding the chart tool.

We have removed the 'Frequency' drop down box and amended the 'Span' drop down to only contain 1,2,3,4 and 5 years to be selected change in line with compliance/MiFID regulations"

Its really annoying. So where now to find and plot this info? I tried financial express but couldn't find anything on there that would do it.

Financial express do it on their paid for software. You wont want to pay for that though as its not cheap! I guess they are trying to differentiate between what they give away free and what they charge for.
