Personal Guarantees - any advice?

Hello, I'm new here and am asking if anyone has any experience of negotiating with the banks when a personal guarantee is in place to back up a small business loan. We have just gone into voluntary liquidation (limited company - 2 weeks ago) and we have informed the bank, but as yet have had no response. Don't get me wrong, we are responsible and realise that we have to make arrangements to pay, but we just don't know how to go about it. We want a 'damage limitation' exercise, as we want to try and protect our personal credit score etc, and perhaps negotiate a payment plan. We just don't know where to start.
Has anyone got any experience of this and any advice? I'd be very grateful, and may get a better night's sleep!
