Maximising candlelight

Does anyone know a way that I can maximise candle light? Im suspecting it would involve mirrors.
Or even better make my own carry candle thing like they have in old films, so that I can wander about without setting light to my hair/curtains
thanks

we put our tea light candles in a row on the mantle piece with a miror standing behind them - double the light!
Also, I've heard that if you store candles in the fridge they will burn for longer, but I've never tried it. Has anyone here experimented with that?0 -

Yes! I store some tealights in the fridge (when there is room) and they seem to last much longer. If I had a pound for every...... oh sod it, if I just had a pound I'd be richer!0 -
Definitely mirrors! When I light a candle in the bedroom it always goes in front of the mirror because that throws the light across the room
But anything reflective would do it, what about a reflector made of aluminium foil in a curve behind the candle - not too close of course.
If we have a power cut, I also have some hurricane lights - in other words they are glass candle holders - so that I can walk about with the candle safely and it doesn't blow out. We also have a lantern which we bought in Ikea for about £2.50 which is very good - although you can't hold the handle at the top as it gets far too hot!
I suppose it would be possible to improvise a hurricane candle thingy with a very large glass jar with a very sturdy candle in it that wouldn't fall over.
I love that candle holder!0 -
Mirrors, alcan foil, and keep the candles high up.0
