Tesco clubcard points - Powergen

When i moved into my present home (2003) i went on line and entered my tesco card details into the tesco site to link my powergen gas and electric bill to start getting points on the card.

A few months went by and the powergen points never showed on my tesco statement. I made a few half hearted calls to powergen and tesco and was always assured that they would be added. Fast forward to 2005 and still no sign.

I wasn't really that bothered then, but after reading a few of the tesco deals (4 x face value) i realised i'd missed out on a hell of a lot of points.

Average bill approx £150 per quarter (gas & elec combined over 2 years). So contacted powergen today and demanded a date when my points would appear. The girl i spoke to put me on hold and came back with they are going to credit me with ALL my points! From 03 - 05!!!

She promised they would be on my next statement (Dec), fingers crossed!!

  • I had a similar problem with Powergen. Not only did they owe me clubcard points but they also owed me a discount because I had both gas and elec but had been charged full rate. It did take a few months to sort out but they did back date both my discount and my clubcard points.
  • I have had to chase them too. Signed up with a 2000 bonus points offer - that has yet to appear. They have promised me this will appear in February....

I wasn't awarded some points as well.

When Tesco changed clubcards (to the ones with keyrings), they changed the clubcard numbers. But they didn't inform any partners that I was signed up with about this change. I found out this accidentally just by checking my Powergen account. And then I found out thet Tesco even didn't bother to change the clubcard number even in my accout on tesco.com.

So, everyone - check that your clubcard numbers are up to date!!!!

  • I had a similar problem with Tesco Personal Finance - it took about 3 statements to get my bonus points. I rang up and made a big whoha that I was relying on the points to pay for a night at an airport hotel and thus ended up out of pocket. I eventually got my bonus points and another 1000 points as compensation. Worth a try - just ask to speak to a supervisor and use the broken needle technique.
I've had no trouble with my Powergen points though.
