Hello Everyone
I retrieved my credit file from equifax a few months ago after I was refused credit (This surporsed me as apart from one or two late payments on my credit card over two years ago I have been fairly uptodat with everything).
To my shock I fould that my brothers details were on myfile. My brother had defaulted on a loan with Abbey and because we share the same name but different birthdates it has somehow got on to my file. I applied for a disassociation file from both agencies. They sais they would investigate. Equifax got back to me and said that Abbey said that the details were correct and they would not be taking the information off. I contacted Abbey. After a number of weeks of arguing my case with Abbey they sent me a letter saying that it has nothing to do with them and I have to contact the Agency. When I conatct the agency they tell me that I have to contact Abbey whilst in the meantime chargint to look at my file I have sent the letter too them outlinining my grievances but nothing has come to avail.
WHat this means is that I am haveing to pay a higher rate of interest for mortgages and credit cards whilst will not be accepted for a loan.
Please please can anyone advise something for me to do
Regards
