tarot readings,how can i set it up?

Hi as i have had a really bad week been thinking of extra ways to up my income,i do all the cashback sites,mystery shopping with grassroots but never get many assignments and sold a few old clothes on ebay.My question is i can read tarot cards and birthcharts and just wondered how i could go on setting this up,i notice people offer them on ebay,could i sell my readings on there or is it not legal?

I have a vague recollection that someone I once knew who did Tarot card readings said she only did them for friends because if she charged she would have to register with some organisation. Can't remember any details, unfortunately - does anyone know about this?

Have you thought about spreading the word around your work colleagues and friends? Most of the readers I have heard of have got work through word of mouth. Or you could try an ad in a local paper.

I've seen some job ads for this in the back of some women's mags. I think that some of these companies like you to practise a lot in advance then you can advertise yourself on their premium phone line website.

Alternatively, go on a mind/body/spirit website and advertise with them, I think Cygnus books will let you do that for free (unless I imagined that )

Alternatively do a course with BSY group and they have a system that helps you set upa card reading business - well they used to because it was always advertised in their course manuals.

The last few clairvoyants and tarot readers I have come across have said explicitly that their trade is only for entertainment. It would be worth your time to google the most up to date legislation for this as I believe that there are not many regulations in this area so you coulde advertise in your local paper or in a shop or online. Maybe advertise on gumtree but you would have to be prepared to have people in your house. Another option would be to get a night in a pub doing tarot readings.

Hi Petal, Its quite easy to do readings on ebay if thats what you want to do, or if your looking for a company to work for, there is a great way to do it, Just do a internet search for psychic readings, they all useually have a free phone (0800) number for credit card readings, call that number and ask to speak to the readings manager and say you are looking for work.

They useally ask you to do a test reading, and you have to prove you can read for at least 20 mins, which is the amount of time for each reading generaly .

thanks buttonsmum,would enjoy doing them via ebay,my only concern is that im not registered and obviously dont want to get into trouble for selling a product that im not registered to sell,even though reading tarot and comiling birthcharts is something ive been doing since i was about 8!ive done lots of readings for family and friends just thought maybe i could earn a bit of money from it.

My friend does tarot readings and works for Hello magazine. She has been doing it for years and she makes good money (she is fantastic at it though) she had to read the editors tarot cards as an interview and was spot on and got hired on the spot. Something you could do, that is if you can do it accurately?

Can you read tarot(sorry, I dont mean to offend, but some people seem to think its a get-rich-scheme, and they can blag even if they cant)? If so, then its best to avoid the numbers in the back of magazines, as they tend to be chat-line companies looking for a sideline.

You could just set up your own website - I am in the process of doing this at the moment, although its been put on hold as I am about to have a baby. I have decided not to go down the route of a premium rate number, but take an amount via paypal

You could join TABI (Tarot Association of the British Isles), they seem to be a great organisation, and an umbrella thread. You can also apply with them to become an endorsed reader, so you might get work from that.

You can do reading on Ebay easily, just take into account listing fees and competition - i.e there are alot!

If you want to practice you readings before going professional, try the Healthy Pages forum (google it), you can practice readings on there and peoplewill give you feedback

thanks frasersmum123,yes i can read been doing it since the age of 8,love it.I did think about setting up my own website but dont know where to start,any advice would be great,wll try those organisations you gave me,just keeping my options open at the mo xx

Try having a look for the local Psychic Fair circuit, you can usually charge between £15-25 per reading, and pay a small rent for the venue/organisers.
