Mackenzie Hall + Lowell Portfolio = New Tactics

Hi Everyone.
Among these forums are loads of posts and tons of people who have dealings with the 2 companies "mackenzie Hall" (MH) and Lowell Portfolio 1 (LP)
lets face it these companies chase the debts that are statute barred and they will try any method to trick you into some acknowledgement of a old debt. They start with the sms messages to your lankdline phone, then the letters and phone calls follow.
My experiance was no different at first a old debt from 8 years ago caught up with me, i used all the forums on this website and sent off the recorded "template" letters and refused all the phone calls.
But as you know once you got rid of 1 of these companies the others try chasing for the same debt in my experiance first came MH once i sent them the template statute barred letter they disapeared and next came LP looking for the same debt.
HERE'S THE LATEST.
today i get a whole new letter from MH chasing for the same money this time however they claim i owe it to LP... oh yes and they changed the account number by 1 digit, pretending it is a different debt.
i came straight onto this forum and searched for details of the new tactics they using, (1 debt collecting company using the second debt collecting company to collect money you owe a third party) but i couldn't find a post that relates to it.
i am now writing to trading standards in both Leeds (LP) and Airshire (MH) plus i will write to the office of fair trading as well.
please reply if you have any input

I do see your point however, if it is statued barred and YOU have decided not to pay why waste your time and energy life is far to short .0

I'm not sure what sort of reply if any you are expecting from trading standards or the OFT.
Just because a debt is statued barred does not mean it no longer exists. In reality it is still due but is not enforcable. Any payments made after 6 years (5 in scotland) can only be regarded as goodwill payments. Paying anything to these debts also does not change the fact that the debt is still statute barred.
From what I can tell the tactics of the DCA may be undesirable but they are not illegal.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000
