Petrol Strimmers??????

Please help, my husband has expressed a need for a petrol strimmer, which I thought I could buy him for xmas.

Does anyone recommend any particular make/model or know of a good website for this purchase?

Many thanks in advance xx

    What is a petrol strimmer?
There is no need to run outside

Nor to peer from a window.
Rather abide at the center of your being.

  • It is a garden tool that trims the edges of your lawn, normally they are electric but the more heavy duty ones can be petrol.
  • Hi, when my husband wanted one he brought a Stihl one. He have been using it for some years and hasn't had any problems with it.

  • Stihl are good make however you may want to look at B&Q own brand if its not going to get much use - think they were £50 last time I looked.

They are made by a name brand and under the housing the engine is EXACTLY the same - just the ergonomics are slightly different and warranty is 1yr.

Suggest its a good time to buy one if available as not much demand in the winter.

What about this one from argos? There seem to be better ones out there but I thought that this one wasn't bad for the price, I suppose it depends on the size of your garden and how much use it's going to get.

I've had a cheap Mcculloch one like the one in Argos (721/8527) for a few years. It's much better than the electric one I used to use. Not man enough to scrub cut though - stick to grass! Remember that they are all two stroke so you will also need 2 stroke oil and a mixing bottle as well as a petrol can.
  • Thanks everyone for your responses, managed to get the mccullough same as argos model for £71 + postage on https://www.worldofpower.co.uk instead of £89.99 at argos v.helpful and friendly here and would thoroughly recommend them. Hope this may be of use to someone!
