Well I managed to get it sorted. They sent me an e-mail saying sorry for the delay with sending the book (it was 2 months late) but there was no real apology for the unhelpful e-mails I received from them, and no goodwill gesture.0

I know its a bit late but this may be of use to others... I just managed to speak with them re my late delivery on 01452 307 905. Googled and got http://www.startupsawards.co.uk/2007_winners/w07_Online_Business_of_the_Year.htm0

Here's a REALLY odd one for you...
I can buy Agatha Raisin and the Wizard of Evesham from The Book Depository UK for £4.13.
OR If I go to Amazon.com I can buy it from their marketplace seller 'The Book Depository UK" for $2.20(£1.47) - shipping from Germany.
I guess that shipping to USA from Germany accounts for the almost £3 differential in price (I don't think!). I automatically buy from german marketplace vendors now as the GB vendors are generally ripping us off.
You don't even need to speak/read German (I can't) - once you know the buttons order for Amazon.co.uk the pattern is the same in the rest of Europe!0 -
Have had a similar problem with this company - again I really rated them before, and would recommend them to friends etc, but then I orded a book at the beginning of April, which they charged me for immediately. It didn't arrive for two weeks, so I emailed them through their own 'Contact Us' proforma, asking where it was. No reply. Two weeks later, still nothing, so I decided to call them. Again, no numbers anyhwere at all on their site, but when I googled their whole company address I found this thread.
Thanks so much to Kingkonkers  who posted their phone number - I rang them and spoke a sales assistant who lamely told me that 'it looked like they weren't able to supply me'. I pointed out that they charged me £11 a month ago, hadn't replied to my email, and that it's clearly not an isolated incident as I found their number due to others having a similar problem.
There was a rather obscure reference to my email perhaps having been 'blocked', although she retracted this when I said I mailed them through their website; I got a half-hearted apology and the assurance that it was a one-off. At the risk of labouring the point, I mentioned the thread on MoneySavingExpert.com and suggested they address the bug in the system that means this keeps happening, otherwise they'll lose a good reputation online... I imagine my thoughts didn't even make it down the phoneline, given the attention the girl on the phone was paying...
But I *did* get an email confirming the cancellation of the order, and a promise of a refund within 3 days. I am 100% confident that if I hadn't rung them directly, I'd still be wondering where my book was...0 -
Just in case anyone is in need of contacting them, the number listed above by Kingkonkers is still correct. I very foolishly was clicking through an order whilst distracted, and only when clicking continue did I see paypal had lifted an old address....arrrghhhh kids Christmas presents going astray, but lovely lovely lady sorted it all out for me without batting an eyelid...phew!!!!Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

To add to this, I've just recently used them for several books, one of them was quite expensive, when it arrived the outer cover was ripped, I emailed them as it's a present, had a very quick response and they've sent me another copy, which arrived very quickly and in perfect condition, haven't even asked for the other one back! So will def use them again.~ What's for you, won't go past you! ~0

Just wanted to say thanks for posting the book depository's phone number on this thread (01452 307 905); I couldn't find it anywhere else! I rang them this month, so its still the right number in February 2013.
I pre-ordered a book and was upset when the 'release date' changed overnight; on the day it should have been released it said it would take another 7 days.
I emailed them about this issue, but rang them the next day after finding this thread and having not yet received a reply.
Actually the lady on the phone wasn't able to help me, whereas the reply I got to my email resolved the issue.
So I wanted to let people know that, whilst it's a relief to have their number to sort out some issues, sometimes it's just as worthwhile to email them :-)0
