I wanna...Steel boned corset...

I want to buy a decent steel boned corset but after having a browse on the net I'm at a loss! Prices range from @ £35 to in excess of £400!!!

I want a fairly decent one but not excessively priced. I don't want to splash out and then find I hate the darn thing, yet want one that will do the job properly. Just wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere? I guess i'm looking at around the £50 mark, but willing to pay around £100 if the item is really good quality and highly recommended.

  • There are a few websites that have had good reviews for their corsets. Fairygothmother.co.uk which are probably in the couple of hundred pound region, lamagia-lingerie.co.uk who sell other brands corsets, whatkatiedid.com who are around £100-150 prices, angelicweapons(think it's co.uk but not sure) that are between £150-£350, aqualingerie.co.uk who are between £90-£300 and have a sale at the minute, volllers which are between £100-£400, and axfords which are again about £100-£200 I think.

    Hello

I have one and I love it however if you have never owned one before then I would strongly suggest going to get fitted properly. Mine was bought in an alternative clothing store where they had trained fitters and an excellent range of corsets. I paid £120 for mine and it was worth every penny!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • I am a bit corset obsessed, I own six! (Three overbusts and three underbusts) - What are you looking for? With a corset, like anything, you pay for what you get, most £35 'corsets' are nothing much more than pretty tops.

I would strongly suggest getting fitted for your first corset. As well as getting the right waist size, they also make sure you get the right length for your torso, and show you (and a friend) how to lace you into - and more importantly, out of - the corset, as well as give you invaluable information for care. Also most corset shops have a full range of designs and can even custom order, so you can get exactly what you're after.

My corsets have cost from £85 for an underbust through to £145 for a completely custom overbust, though I wear my underbusts pretty much daily, making them cost effective (honest!). Once you've worn a 'real' corset, you can totally tell the difference between them and the £35 'corset tops'.

This post ended up a bit longer than I intended. I guess I just got carried away a bit. Oops. ^__^

  • I bought a steel boned bridal corset for my wedding from corset boulevard and it was AMAZING!!when I went for my dress fitting the owner of the shop asked me to leave the details of where it was from as she said it was one of the best she had seen.
It was £35 and when i say i had a wasp waist for the first time in my life im really not kidding and I have a drawer full of useless corsets/body stockings.
One thing i will say is that when you do the measurments round down instead of up when ordering and I still wear it but have to get a good friend to get me in to it (so if she isnt available its a no no)
Make sure you know how to do it up properly else you dont get the full effect ie always pull the lace together from the left hand side and pull up the back as you go BUT leave slightly looser at the top so you avoid the nightmare that is "back fat"
