Anyone in Leeds?

Hi all. BF has finally agreed to let me do the food shopping, so I'm going to get meat packs from the market. I also want to get fruit and veg there, but the stalls that I've tried in the past have had great looking stuff on display, but get what you buy from behind and it's rotten. So does anyone know a decent place to get cheap fruit and veg from, and if possible which is the best butchers?

Cheers.

My daughter lives in Leeds, and is pretty offended by the meat market. (Hygiene, not vegetarian ) She uses the Farmer's market on Sundays quite a bit, and I'm just checking out where her friend buys her Goat Meat from, as she is finding that quite cheap.
Hope you get some more informative replies than this,

  • Hi were in the leeds area (but about 14 miles from the city centre), so i will be watching this thread with interest.

I've been to the farmers market and found it very good, but not especially cheap as there is a lot of organic produce especially meat.

i have had some nice fish quite a few times from the stall nearest the top door of the fish market.

I like that fish one too.

I'm surprised about the problems with hygiene in the market, I've found that with a couple of shops but at least a couple of them seem ok.

I agree about the farmers market, I find it very expensive for meat and we're on a tight, income support budget.

  • A friend of mine lives in the city center and we have a had problems with the market in the past. We just look around properly before buying and don't always go to the same place even if it is good quality once it might not be as good again. having said that it is still great for foods and cheap.
