Smelly Bathroom Drain help

Hi

I have a level access bathroom, with a shower, that drains into the floor. This has become very smelly - probably old hair and disgusting stuff. What suggestions to people have regarding cleaning it. It runs into the same drain as the toilet, so will end up in the sewerage system, but I'd rather not buy something harmful to clean it.

Any Old Style ideas welcome.

Many thanks

Have you tried tipping a load of cleaning soda down all the outlets? That usually works!

ok maybe not a load, but a few tablespoonfulls mixed with all that other water in the system isn't so bad.

    Or vinegar...
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

  • Put some Bicarb in the plughole and then vinegar it will fizz up leave it a while and then a kettle of boiling water to wash it down. Repeat if needed.

Agreed, we use vinegar and bicarb also. Every so oftern we do it at bedtime and don't follow up with the boiling water until morning, leaving the mixture set overnight.
