Wescot and CCA help please

Hi,

I recieved a letter from Wescot yesterday in my old married name, claiming that I owe them just over £200 for an old catalogue account.
I did have an account with that name and I did get into debt with them, but I did make sure I bought the account upto date so everything was payed off.

Anyway, moved house under 3 years ago and got married, so different surname now.

The letter I received is quite threatening, claiming that If I don't take action by next week, I could have a ccj or debt collecter come to the door.

I have decided to send for a CCA as I am not sure that they even sent one to me, is that the best thing to do or can anyone advise me?
If I do send for a CCA before next week, would I still have somebody come arround to try and get the debt?

Also now I'm married with a different surname, which one do I put on the CCA letter request?

Thanks for reading and any help would be appreciated.

Sp xx

When sending the CCA request, inform them that as far as you are aware, the account was fully paid. If you request the CCA and they are unable to provide it in 12 working days, then the account is unenforcable and they should not try to collect on it or put it through the courts. If a doorstep collector does come around, inform them that the debt is in dispute - they have no powers at all. Ask them to leave the property and if they don't inform them they are trespassing and you will call the police.

Putting your new name on the letter is ok.

Male sure that the CCA letter also requests a statement of account.

There is a factsheet on catalogue debts that goes into more detail.

Do you have proof that the account was previously settled? I presume not?
