National Insurance rebates

Just looking for some guidance really.

My gf worked last year but didn't earn more than the tax free threshold. I think it was about £5k she earnt in the end.

We have claimed back all of the tax that she paid last year.

Can we also claim back the £200 of NI payments she made.

I remember reading somewhere that NI isn't calculated cumulatively (though I may be wrong as I now can't find it anywhere). Would this mean that you can't claim back what would have been overpayments that weren't sorted out cumulatively like PAYE does??

Comments

  • You are correct that NICs are based on income of each individual week or month and so there is no overpayment.
