Business mileage and temporary contracts

Can anyone give me advice on whether or not my wife can claim her journeys to work as business mileage for tax purposes?
She is a teacher on two temporary contracts and carries out supply teaching, all of which occur at the same school.
Contract 1 is for a year teaching 1/4 day on a Monday and 3/4 day on a Wednesday
Contract 2 is for a year as a special needs assistant attending 3/4 day Monday, all day Tuesday and 1/4 day Wednesday.
Supply teaching then occurs on occasional Thursday and Fridays.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I believe that the situation would be that she CANNOT claim tax releif as this scenario is the same as working in a permanent office. Otherwise everyone working at a location for less than 2 years would be claiming tax relief.
However, is she employed by the education authority, or is she self employed/sole trader or a contractor? That will change the answer.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
