Last time I tried to contact sky to change my package I got a recorded message saying estimated waiting time was 91 minutes !!
Called the new customer number and got straight though - surprise surprise

Sorry to bump an old thread, but just thought it was better than starting a new one.

Sky Broadband is now up and running. It does require Windows Media Player 10 and a few other bits of Windows software to be up to date, but it provides helpful links to the download sites to get you going.

Download speeds do seem to be a bit erratic though. The first three films I downloaded last week took about an hour each. Today I have spent all day trying to get them. It could be because more and more people are using the server. If this is the case then it might be a problem later on. The streams for Sky Sports are good though.

I recommend you give it a try at least (only if you are a sky movies or sky sports [or both] subscriber though.)

I think this might be possible, although you need your brother's account details (Viewing Card Number, etc) and I suspect that you can only run it on one computer at a time. However they do ask for a telephone number, so if your brother is someone who has taken out a multiroom that requires the sky box to be connected to a registered telephone number there is a possibility they might use this to check, but why not give it a try. :snow_grin

If you know someone that has SKY but no internet, use their details then it will be free to you.
Sorry thats no quite true you will need someone to buy you a computer and pay for your broadband. Then it will be free. No it wont you will have to pay for the electricity and your glasses.ETC

I tried downloading a film to day and it got to 6% and stopped I left it for an hour and it hadn't moved. I am a Bit disappointed at the moment but I will give it another go.

Is there a link? I subscribe to the full package Skyworld and have a computer on BT Broadband does this mwean I can watch the sky channels via this then?

Users should also be aware that this is a P2P service and that you will uploading as well as downloading, eating into your monthly allowance for anyone on any form of capped BB service. I.e. your PC is acting as a server for someone else to download it. Also anyone on a capped service should use it carefully in any case as some films can be about a gig at a time and some services only provide 1 - 5 gig a month a allowance.

I fear a lot of people on the cheaper BB packages are going to get caught out especially as they don't understand P2P or uploading.
