End of fixed deal

I am coming to the end of a fixed deAL WITH nNR and am looking to re-mortgage.
I Owe £35k on mortgage
house worth approx. £160k
Have £10k in savings
Owe £2k on personal loan whicj I will pay off.

I am thinking of an offset mortgage with a view to pay mortgage off ASAP. Most offsets require a minimum loanof £30k.

What would be my best option, any ideas?

  • If the minimum they'll lend is £30k you're fine getting a loan of £35k and then offsetting £10k, its the loan amount thats the minimum not loan amount minus offset amount. Even if say the minimum was £50k though, as you have the equity in the house and presumably the means to furnish a slightly larger mortgage, you could always get an offset for £50k in total then just pay the excess £15k back into the offset pot so effectively making it a £35k mortgage anyway.
