default served after 1 missed payment - help!

I've accidentally missed a car insurance payment and been served a default notice with a threat to take it further in 2 weeks. I'm going to phone up and explain and pay the arrears on Monday but does anyone know if this default notice will harm my credit file and stay on there for 6 yrs?!? Seems very harsh, can I ask them to take it off?

Really worried....

  • a default after 1 missed payment is very very harsh!! are you sure they are issuing one or is it just a threat?
  • The letter says Default notice in capitals and is underlined. It says, this is a default notice served under section 87 of the credit consumer act 1974

Action required to remedy - Clear the funds by 5pm in 2 weeks.

If the action required is taken before 2 weeks then no further enforcement action will be taken in respect of this breach.

It doesn't say they will resind the default notice...just worried that i might not be able to get this removed from my file...
  • My SIL had a letter from her mortgage company telling her that they were considering repossessing the house because they were in arrears by £4.41!!!!

I think all companies are tightening up on getting monies in and they do this by automated systems which is never good!

It is best to pay these type of things by direct debit or standing order, then you don't have to worry about remembering them.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
