has anybody had dealings with community legal service direct

I have contacted cccs and ndl about my debt, and the fact that I got my credit cards by telling them that I was working when I was not.
I owe about 45k on 8 cards and 2 loans. They have told me that the card companys may not delve to deeply, but I am very afraid of going to jail because of this, and no one knows what is going to happen.
I received a form from NDL and payplan this morning, I also received a letter from community legal service direct, which is somthing cccs told me to contact, it all seems very scarry and well legal, does anyone know anything about clsdirect, and which one would they go with.
I am still very unsure of what to do, but I will take the weekend to decide one way or the other, I may just try try try to rob peter to pay paul just a little bit longer, I know that is just stupid but that is how my mind is working at the moment, I am that scarred.
any help would be gratefully excepted.
Thank you

Honeybun you are not going to go to jail! I know you're feeling very stressed right now but it's really really really unlikely. (Court is a possibility but jail? No.)

I found this info on Community Services Direct

    http://www.clsdirect.org.uk/index.jsp

    http://www.legalservices.gov.uk/civil/tendering/clsdirect_family_pilot.asp

I think you'l need to work with either CCCS or NDL for the debt repayment and CLS for the legal issues but I agree with CCCS that it may never come up.

Fill in all the forms honey - ask us if you get stuck on anything and lets start getting this sorted.

Just another thought - if the company can't supply the signed paperwork for the debts they may be unenforceable and you won't have to pay - have you asked CLS about that?

  • cccs will not help me directly they told me to go to cls direct which I did, cls direct said that they would help me, but they could not give me any assurances that the creditors would not seek court or prison agaist me, so this has set me back in my thinking, I was all set to do it, but now I am bottling out. Once I have set the ball rolling I can not turn back, and both my partner and I are scarred that it will end up in court, then prison.
The niceist people were NDL who told me that payplan was the way to go, and just hope that the creditors do not delve deeply, I know that I am putting my head in the sand, but I just can not think straight at the moment.
I do not evan know how much I owe, that will be fun, working that out, anyway thanks for listening.

    Hi again sweetie,

Having this kind of thing hanging over your head makes you ill honey and starting to tackle it usually brings feelings of relief. I'm not telling you what to do i promise but how long are you going to hide from this?

Sooner or later it will come to a head - probably when you start missing payments so get in front of it would be my advice.

They can't take money you haven't got and there's no room in the prisons to send you there honey! ;) I can't promise that they wouldn't take you to court but if they can't get any money out of you it's not worth their time and the CPS is overloaded too so things may not be as black as you think.

You're worrying about the worst case scenarios chick - when it may not be anything like as bad as you think.

You do have to stick your neck out in order to find out though and I understand that's a scary thing to do.

  • I have to agree with Jacks xxx, they seem to be making more of this error of judgment re the application than they need too to be honest,

Do these card companys know you where less than honest? have you told them? if not how would they know unless you tell them

Im not saying what you did was right but your not the first, and if i had any money to bet with i would bet you wont be the last

To be honest there as much to blame for not asking for proof of employment such as a payslip
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
