How come some HDMI cables are cheap and some are a lot more expensive? Do they do the same thing? As long as it's 1080p and gold plated is that the only thing you need?0

Also, does the PS3 (40gb) come with an HDMI cable or do I need to buy one? Thanks! (Getting my PS3 delivered tomorrow so don't know what's in the box yet!).0

Hi Bella2008, I believe the PS3 arrives without hdmi cable, but its probably best to wait and see first. There are many differing opinions as to whether a priceier hdmi cable is any better or not, though for the majority of people, the general conscensus is that because it is digital almost any cable should suffice. As I am still waiting for this to be delivered and have only just gone over to hdmi with my new tv, I can't yet give first hand experience.I have gained from advice as well as bargains here, so if I can help in any way, I am only too pleased to do so and appreciate your thanks.0 -
As long as the HDMI cable meets the HDMI 1.3 (or 1.3a) standard (and most of them now do... possibly some of the very cheapest dont.
Then over 1-2m tehre should be pretty much zero difference between them. The very expensive high bandwidth cables should techincally only show a visible difference over 10m.0
